A RAY OF SUN

I love using natural elements in decorating. In fact, early this winter, when the pine cones were just starting to fall from the trees, I collected as many as I could carry in my arms from campus back to my apartment. Naturally, this garnered some strange glances from my fellow classmates. But come on people, they’re free and I’ve got to use what I can find so my apartment isn’t drab and dreary! I bought some hemp twine (the same I used here) and cut little pieces to tie around the tops of the cones. Then I hung them from my TV stand so they dangle over the sides. The effect was cute and rustic so it was totally worth the stares I got from other college kids on campus. If I had been able to collect more, I would have loved to try some of these other ideas. Definitely saving them for next year!
